In just a few short months, Blue Horizon Travel will be embarking on the Clipper Europe Grand Voyage and we are simply too excited for words. As we take off for the trip of a lifetime, one of our main stops will be in the breathtaking country of Spain, full of beautiful people, sights and culture, and we think that would be absolutely insane to miss it! While we understand that it can be difficult to simply decide to drop everything and sail off to Spain for a few weeks, we can think of a few reasons why you should at least consider doing just that:
The Mediterranean Coast – No matter who you are, it’s tough to argue with the fact that the Mediterranean is absolute paradise. With beautiful, blue water and miles and miles of long, sandy beaches, it’s hard to resist a place that sees gorgeous sunny days 300 days out of the year.
The Mountains – There are probably a million different things that come to mind when you think about Spain, but are mountains one of them? Probably not. In actuality though, Spain is Europe’s most mountainous country, second only to Switzerland. Spend the day by the water on the beautiful coast and then turn around the corner to admire the peaks.
Amazing Cathedrals – From La Sagrada Familia (which is Gaudi’s modern masterpiece) to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, Spain is full of architecturally stunning cathedrals of all kinds.
The Food – If this doesn’t get you, we don’t know what will. The food that you will find in Spain is among some of the best in the world, making our mouths water just thinking about it. For one, the many varieties of paella that you will come across (depending on which province you’re in) are immeasurable. From rabbit and snails to mussels and prawns, you’ll get it all here – and it’s all delicious.
You’ll Always Get More than you Bargained For – Aside from all of the great tourist activities and sites to take in while visiting Spain, there is always a little something extra going on in most Spanish villages. You’ll quickly come to realize that each has their own types of summer fiestas, ranging from folk dances and flaming effifgies to any kind of “battle” involving paint, meringue, grapes or oranges.
It’s easy to tell that when it comes to visiting Spain, there will always be something to do, see or discover around every corner!
